About My Work

I have developed my own distinctive style, which combines collage with photography, and which I have adapted and nurtured throughout my career as a freelance illustrator. My style focuses on producing characters; they often appear quirky and candid in their finished format, the result of my take on life. I like to think of the images as a social commentary or a ‘slice of life’.

My illustrations begin as rough sketches that spring to life with materials gleaned from photographs and magazine cuttings. You could say my work is a kind of recycling process. I currently have a whole library of noses, ears, eyes and outfits, which are scanned then drawn together like a jigsaw puzzle, layered up and manipulated in Photoshop.
